QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ON SALVATION
Making sure you and your household are saved!
Many think we are saved if we go to church or are a good person. Though many go to church and belong to different denominations, the Bible makes it clear we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ by God's grace alone, and not of our works or merit. The answers to some questions below may help us better understand just what (or WHO) saves us from the pits of hell...
What is Salvation?
The definition for salvation in the dictionary is, "Deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption." In the Bible, God has a promise to us regarding salvation. Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord,
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall
be saved! For with the heart, man believes, resulting in righteousness.
And with the mouth, he confesses, resulting in Salvation."
If I were to say it like a
reporter, Salvation would go like this...
Who: God the Father
What: Sent His Son, Jesus
Christ, to die on a cross for your sins
When: Over 2,000 years ago
Where: At Calvary
Why: So you may believe in
Him and be saved
Who can be saved?
Anyone who wants to be saved. Nothing is impossible with God!
What must I do to be saved?
Call on the Name of Jesus Christ
for forgiveness of your sins, and receive Him into your own heart and life
as Savior and Lord.
Does church attendance save me? No.
Does doing good deeds save me? No.
Can anyone or anything save me outside of Jesus Christ? No.
Only your personal belief, repentance
and confession in Jesus Christ saves you.
Find out (read) the truth for yourself!
Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
(the four Gospels in the Bible)-Then read the Book of Acts. Pay attention to how Jesus and the
disciples responded to those who asked them, "What must I do to be saved?"
You will find the words repent, believe, confess, and you must be born
again. God doesn't change. The same thing that saved them in the New Testament
saves us today. When you die, you will be judged by what God's Word says.
Use the Bible as the only Guide Book for your safe place with God! (Also see Ministries listed on The Christian Corner)
What will happen to me on the day I die?
When you die, you will stand before
God. God will then open the 'Book of Life' and search for your name (a
book that records all the names of those on earth who received Jesus Christ
as their Lord and Savior). If you made the decision to place your trust
in Jesus Christ and confess Him as your Lord and Savior, you will enter
heaven. If your name is not found, the Bible says you will be thrown into
the flames of hell!
What if I see many as hypocrites and want nothing to do with becoming a Christian?
The devil has many ways to keep
you from finding your safe place with God. (Hypocrisy is an old one!)
You will not realize how real the devil is until you make a decision for Jesus Christ! God uses imperfect people to tell others about Him. No one is perfect but
God. That's why it's important you look beyond anything and anyone that
stops you from finding the truth. Step back from the crowd and all you have
experienced (or been taught) and seek God with your own heart! Ask Him
to save you and show you the truth! Where you spend eternity will depend
on it! Heaven and hell are real places (read about it in the Bible). Don't
let anyone or thing keep you from receiving the free gift of Salvation
God is offering to you. Know you will spend your eternity in heaven or
hell! Choose heaven by responding to God's call today!
What about our loved ones who have died?
The Bible says that you can know that you are saved. And when we're not sure where a loved one's heart stood with God when they passed on, you have to trust that God was there. God is
moving in many lives without us knowing it. He knows what is going to happen
and when, and has loved ones on His mind and heart to make sure they find
their safe place with Him. (The Bible says He knew us when we were
in the womb.) It only takes an instant to be saved, and God is very faithful.
No one knows what happened in those last few seconds of your loved ones
life. Trust God was there and has a plan for you and your family. Then
give Him your heart, and be a witness to those around you today. For God
still makes house-calls, and leads generations of souls to Him for Salvation
What about children? Are they saved?
Babies, children, miscarriages and
aborted children are all safe with God. Jesus made it very clear the importance
and love for children. God also talks about how He wants
no one to perish! However, the Bible does mention that at some age, you
are held personally accountable to know the truth and receive Jesus Christ yourself. (If you are reading this, consider yourself 'of age' to make the decision
for Jesus Christ)! Keep in mind that when you do receive Jesus Christ and
ask Him to forgive you, everything you ever did wrong, any sin you ever
committed (big or small), is forgiven forever! Your sins are forgiven,
washed clean and forgotten! For Jesus Christ
took care of all of it on the cross at Calvary! You are covered with the
blood He shed for you when you humble your heart to God, ask Him to
forgive you, and receive and confess Jesus Christ, God's Son, as your Savior and Lord. (Visit the Billy Graham links under Ministries on The Christian Corner.)
What if I don't believe in the New Testament but only the Old?
Search the Scriptures. If you do,
and ask for God's guidance, you will find Jesus Christ mentioned throughout
the Old Testament. You can also search on the internet for others (of your same culture
and background) who have found and received Jesus Christ as their Lord
and Savior and are following Him. For example, there are Jews who have
received Christ, and are called 'Messianic Jews'. Moslems are having dreams of Jesus and being saved (Be sure to also see 'Reflections' by Hazam Farraj, a former Muslim who shares about Jesus, under Ministries on The Christian Corner).
What if I don't think I need this Jesus or a Savior?
This site is here to encourage you
to humble yourself before God and ask Him to reveal to you Himself and
His truth before it's too late for you! The choice is yours on whether
you want to receive God's free gift of Salvation for yourself-Or not! God
forces Himself on no one, but let's you decide for yourself where you will
spend eternity. However, you should know that even Jesus told the Father
how wise He was to hide His truth from those who think they know best (See
Matthew 11:25). Present a humble heart to God and ask
Him to show you the truth, as you open the Bible and read!
The Gospel (The Good
News of Jesus Christ) is being preached all over the world at a very fast pace! Millions are coming to Jesus Christ from every country and nation around the world! (See CHRIST FOR ALL NATIONS under Ministries on The Christian Corner. Visit their website, and watch the video on Reinhard Bonnke's Amazing Crusades, where Millions convert to Christianity!)
Know that God wants no one to perish but all to be saved! Humble your heart before God today. He will reveal Himself to you if you ask and seek Him with all your heart! You can do this wherever you are. Just call on the Name of the Lord and ask Him to forgive you and save you!
